My 72' gimbal ring has considerable up and down movement.

I have read he manual that i have but it is very ambiguous. How do i adjust it upwardly. It has dropped in position .108 thousands.
The gap where the washer is i my pic is .108, and it should be no more the .010.
I am including the narrative from the manual in the second jpeg.
please advise. I am finding nothingon you tube, everything is Alpha 1 or Bravo, which is entirely different.
I purchased the gimbal to engine alignment tool which checks out fine, but my motor shakes due to the gimbal ring being off.

It's bad news
Once the ring bushings are worn enough to increase beyond limits, then bushings, pins and or ring need to be replaced.

The gap in the top should not cause the engine shaking you are describing.
A good chance the rear motor mounts are the problem, what happens is the inner steel core has separated from the rubber. Is the engine running smoothly?
The easiest way to tighten the vertical clearance is to first remove the exhaust bellows, pull the cotter pin from the lower gimbal ring shaft, drive the shaft up and out, stack the shims to raise the gimbal ring to specification then re assemble. Trying to raise the gimbal ring with the housing in the boat will be a major PITA the way the service manual describes. That process is with the housing removed from the boat.

the grease was bushing gimbal older years and the worn is the bushing ..
the grease is not the cap plastic ..pre alpha 1
