I have a 1973 Evinrude 65 HP. This past weekend it was working great, pulling water-skiers and doing 5000 RPMs. Monday it started right up; idled great and sounded great, but when I gave it full throttle it would only hit 3200 RPMS. We drove it quite a while thinking the plugs were fouled but it never cut lose, in fact it got weaker till it would only churn out about 2000 RPMs. It did not seem to be a fuel problem; I checked everything. I suspect one of the ignition components: Stator, rectifier, or powerpack. Anyone have any knowledge or opinion?
