First off, hello Im new here. Just got my first boat. It is a 1981 TideCraft Spitfire V15 (15' bass boat) with a 1984 85 HP oil injected Suzuki.
I just got this boat a few months ago. First time I took it out this noise wasn't there. Next time I took it out, I hadn't refilled the oil reservoir(oil injected) and as soon as I started it up the low oil alarm sounded. I turned it off(only ran about 5-10 seconds after alarm sounded). Refilled with oil and restarted. Started fine and alarm wasn't going off anymore but now every once and awhile it has a high pitch chirp/bark. Hard to describe.
I had someone tell me perhaps my seals got dry when the oil was low but it should stop after the oil was filled up. It still does it though? Im hoping I didnt mess up my motor.
This is my first boat and have always see pre-mixed oil before so am not very familiar with a oil injected motor. Would it be a good idea to pre-mix some oil with my fuel just in case of something like this or is that not recommended? Thanks for the help.
