Drain plug came out, i beached boat and tried to put spare in, but not before I got water almost to the top of the outboard. It's a 115hp 70's evinrude. I pumped the gas tank dry and put new fuel in, took all the spark plugs out and ran the start for a while to blow any water out, and flushed the lower unit oil out. Cleaned the spark plugs and put them back in, but get nothing, pull the plugs again and they are wet with a slightly milky film, cleaned and repeated several times but still nothing. What else do I need to flush/clean or replace?
Thanks
Brian

You might want to try draining the float bowls to the carbs. to get any water out of them. It sounds like you still have some water somewhere getting in as evidenced by the milky stuff on the plugs. Either way, you're smart in trying to get it cranked and running as soon as possible.
Good luck----I've done the plug thing a couple of times, myself!

get a gallon of water displacer (WD40) and pour half in the carbs and another load in the cylinders, get that water out. Acteone works too, be carefull the engine will run on acetone or WD40. So it might fire up if you crank it over.
Use a turkey baster. Really drown it .

I know a guy who's engine was submerged in the salt for 4 days, it still runs great to this day because he got it all out asap and fired it up.

Since the question came from Illinois, it obviously will be fresh water. That's the one good thing about this story. Nevertheless, as Johnson says, time is of the essence. If you can't get it running by yourself, you must get help. What you pay will be small compared to loss of the motor through delay.

I coated everything with wd40 as soon as I got it out of the water, my main concern is the milky stuff, that usally means oil and water, and I don't know anything about this engine, I thought the only oil was mixed with the gas, what is the vro oil and where is it located?
Thanks

VRO is for oil injection models only. If you don't have it, it's not important.

There are no free manuals but you can download one right here on iBoats. Give us the model no. off that tag on the transom mount and we can tell you the year.
