Welcome to iboats. The timing linkage is pretty reliable on most outboards, and rarely do they 'lose' timing settings. I would suspect everything else first. Try getting a clean spray bottle, and filliing it with 2cycle mix. Spray a few squirts of gas into the carb, and try to start it..If it sputters or runs briefly, the problem is fuel delivery.<br />If it doesn't, check the spark at the plug(s).<br />I'm not familiar with the Year, HP, (and thefore) ignition system type of yuor engine. But if it has no fire, check the kill circuit first.They can sometimes short from corrosion after sitting dormant for a while.
