Posted last month that I just had hip replacement surgery. All is going great and waaaay ahead of schedule. My cat was very curious at first sniffing around my hip area when I am laying in bed.She clearly know something was going on there. She began laying on that hip and purring much louder than she usually does.So loud that she woke both myself and wife up.After some curiosity we did some googling on that topic and could not believe what we were reading.Cats purring omits the same deciple level as medical ultra sound. "within a frequency range of 20-140 Hertz" .This turns out to be one of the reasons that cats heal themselves so well. There is no doubt in my mind that she is trying to help me.Im sure my hip is a lot less comfortable for her than her bed.I am blown away by this.

I don't doubt that in the least. My wife's last cat hated me with a passion.I couldn't go near it since it was a kitty cat. When I had minor surgery I wasn't feeling so great and laid down when we got home from the Hospital. That cat that never had the time of day for me snuggled beside me and stayed there the entire afternoon. When I got up he got up, when I laid back down the cat jumped back on the bed with me and yes purred away. I read where there are dogs that can tell if someone has Cancer. Mother Nature is amazing.

Last time I broke my hand, my cat did the exact same thing, I would be sitting on the sofa with my hand in a light wrap resting on a pillow and she would jump up there and lay across my hand and purr for hours. I don't know exactly what it did, but I do know it calmed me down a whole lot and the hand did seem to heal quicker than other times I have broke a hand or finger.

We have four cats, and two of them are what we call Nurse Cats. I had hand surgery in September and one or the other was with me the whole time. Same thing when I had my knee done several years ago. I choose to think it's because they want to help me feel better (rather than just lay on/near someone who can't mess with them too much!).

As I previously stated ,when I googled the extra loud purring it stated that cats produce the same effect as medical ultrasound.Exact same frequency. That is where the quicker healing is coming from. They certainly do calm you as well.Charlie

Don't fool yourself, your cat is plotting a diabolically evil plan of world domination. It is the calm before the storm ... the "get them to trust me" before the pounce. Keep one eye open, I tell you, and don't leave down your guard!:behindsofa::peep::D

I have a lab and a big old cat and they are the best of buddies. I love them both like they are my children. The dog thinks the humans give me food, housing and love, they must be Gods. The cat thinks the humans give me food, housing and love, I must be a God

Every time my wife sleeps in the recliner, the cat lies on her leg or hip ...
but the cat never purrs
