Wow.. this site is amazing. I have alot to learn and it appears that I found the best site online to do it.

I picked up my '95 1700 Cap with 120 Force for $3000. I couldn't believe it and certainly couldn't resist it. I haven't been able to test out the engine yet as it wasn't winterized this year so I have a little work to do, as well as some general cleaning and fiberglass restoration.. but she's in good shape otherwize. When I popped the engine cover... I about fell over... it looks brand new.

Do you guys have any suggestions other than what I have found regarding caring for the engine that I should investigate and resolve before getting one of these out to the water? Any input is greatly appreciated and I'll be sure to post pics when I have her all finished.

Thanks much!

Jbosco, why not post your engine questions in the Force forum for more answers.
Welcome to iboats.

Welcome to iBoats. As SBN said, post in the Force forum so people with specific knowledge on your engine can respond. I wouldn't worry about the winterization, 2 stroke outboards generaly don't need much. A change of the lower unit oil, and a test fire on the muffs, might be all you need.

BTW, most of the 17' Outboard Bayliners I've seen came with 85/90 hp Force engines. I would expect a 120 to push it very well.

How is your 1700 doing?

How is the quality of construction? Is it a sturdy boat?
