Thanks for the responce about the rubber seal. My nest question is shoudn't there be air filters over the carberator intakes?!? Mine has the backfire covers over the intakes but no filter elements. I have attached a picture of my two hundred dollar boat. The wife already named it "The Money Pit".
Thanks for all the great advice on this sight. The amount of knowledge all of you have is pricless.

Gary

Re: My first Boat - Question #2

For one, all boats are named the money pit.

No filters

make sure the foam insul on the inside of the cover is intact and not decomposing, if it is, just tear it all out, don't want bits of that getting sucked in

Re: My first Boat - Question #2

Most of the motors of that age have the foam starting to fall off. Its there for sound suppression. As far as I know.

If your like me if it came on or in the boat I want it. :D

Any hobbie shop that has yarn and fabric will carry the foam , a little snip and tuck and some spray glue and your done.

OH and by the way you may want to baxtrize your motor if it hasent been done already.

Re: My first Boat - Question #2

Thanks again for the help. All of the foam inside the hood is already gone. Installing the telltale is one of the first things I did thanks to info on this sight. I'm sure question #3 is comming soon.
