Just wanted to clear up some information that I am a little iffy about. I am a new boat owner, and the proud parent of a 1988 Glasstream 211 regatta cruiser. As this is my very first boat, i'm looking to download/buy the manuals I need for the I/O setup on the boat so I can fix it up. The boat hasnt been treated very well the past few years. From what I learned on this site I need the following manuals:
Service Manual #6 R, MR, Alpha I outdrives 1983 to 1990
Service Manual #8 1985 to 1989 Merc Marine 4 cyl (Newer 470's)

I believe I have a Alpha I outdrive, and I have the 3.7 Mercruiser engine. If someone could confirm this for me that would be excellent. I have already learned wealth of information from this website. Also here are some pictuires of my boat.

Also I forgot to mention, THE BOAT WAS FREE! I couldn't resist turning down the boat, but it does need work.

Re: my first boat, some questions

You nailed it on the manuals..good work. Just double check your engine serial number. Manual #8, 3.7L for S.N. OB774252 & up. The boat doesn't look too bad...I've seen a lot worse. That engine has some unique intricacies to it, so read up here as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask ANY question.

BTW: Manuals are free downloads here at iboats, thanks to dedicated members.

Except for the charging system and circ pump seals, they are a damn reliable engine, and don't let the fear mongers on this site tell you any different. That said, however, they ARE getting hard to find certain parts for, you are now warned. And free IS a good price! 'nutcase
