Well I've decided to do it. I have a J90TLCOS with a scored cyl. I have decided to do a rebuild myself as mechanic says"this motor not worth rebuilding". Well I think it is! I have my literature and read through a few times. I took a few pictures. How do some of you do your removal of all the electrics? Take it all off together? Can I leave the motor on boat? How to label bolts and such? Just looking for some of your tips of the trade! Thanks guys

If you're doing a rebuild, all of the electrics have to come off anyway. The shop is going to want a bare stripped block to work with. Pictures along the way is a good way to remember where stuff went. How you label everything is what makes the most sense to you, everybody has their own idea of what makes sense. Not sure leaving it on the boat is going to be convenient unless you don't have a real place to work on it.

BTW multiple posts on the same subject are just going confuse things and get a wrist slap

Factory manual is a must because of the extra details you wouldn't get in in a Seloc or Clymer. Take tons of pictures, especially on stuff like fuel hose routing. It's sometimes hard to find documentation out there on how the fuel system goes back together. Keep things organized, put screws and bolts in plastic bags and make sure you label them. If it's anything like mine the electrical is all mounted on a bracket to the side of the block so it pretty much all came off once I removed a few mounting bolts. Take your time and good luck!
