My first 'project' boat- Steury model V415S

This boat has been sitting outside for 2 years, the interior is trashed. Is it possible to tell the year from the serial number???It is G96262.... I would like to restore it to as close to original as possible, but I would need to know the year and find some pictures. Also it currently has a 75 hp Johnson hanging on the back...seems a little big for this boat. The tag on the transom is unreadable where the Max. HP is. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I have a stuery model 415 1975 I did a resto on it last year. It has a 1974 evinrude 50 hp on and I wished it was a little bit larger. The boat you have is rated for a 60hp. I think you will be fine with the 75. Keep an eye on the transom though. Good luck with the resto. They are soild little boats. I will be selling mine this year as I'm most of the way through a complete resto on my 16' starcraft.
