My "new to me" gps I bought on ebay arrived today. This is the first time I've ever handled one. I gotta say that there sure is a lot to these things. I can see an intensive learning curve unless I find someone who has one and learn the easy way to do things. :)

What make and model, AE?

Many of the makers let you download Owner's Manuals from their websites.

Re: My GPS

It's a Magellan 2000 XL. The guy sent the manual with it so I have lots of reading to do. I don't think that it has mapping though so I'll have to get maps I guess. All I know so far are the coordinates for where I live and that my pickup speedometer is about 1 mph faster than the GPS.

Re: My GPS

One of the best things I ever did was spot a GPS video tape while I was at Wally World one day. About 10 clams and was ten times more informative than the manual. Reading the manual puts me to sleep, the tape showed how to actually use it..They had one that featured my model, good purchase..

I like ms maps and streets , it accepts nmea 183 2.0, from the gps, and it gives (long/lat)of the waypt value for manual entry into the gps also, 14 bucks after rebate at costco.

If you work with it day by day, you should be good at using it in no time. (My wife is just fascinated by a GPS, so I just hand it to her and let her give directions -- she is good at that anyway.)
