I overbuilt a storage/extra front deckspace onto my 1860 G3 a while back, finally learned how to post pics so here are a few. I used an aluminum highway sign for the top and front, and varnished the untreated pine 2x4/2x6 for the framing, liquid nails between the hull and the top frame pieces,galvanized brackets to rivet some of the frame to the boat and stainless screws/washers and cheap gate hinges. Top is sprayed w bedliner. It is very strong and I think it has made the boat less twisty too!! My homeaid PVC outrigger is in one shot!

Re: My Jonboat Mod

It's an old obsolete sign from a highway intersection change I got for free at work many years ago!! a metal shop charged $20 to chop it to size and shape. I'll try to take some better pics of the details. I used tough 3M rubber tape to pad all the points that might flex on the frame/boat connection and isolate the galvanized L brackets from the aluminum floor. I left the lid closing short onto the 2x6 so you wouldn't cut your shin hitting it on edge of the lid, the frame sticks out further. I may put a handle on it or just cut out notch in the 2x6below the door, to grab and open it. Right now I just lift it from either side where it overhangs a few inches I thought about useing all aluminum, but this was cheaper I beleive.

Tell "all those folks" Raleigh's FULL.......NO VACANCY!:facepalm::D
