My motor won't start properly

I have a Johnson outboard motor and I haven't used it for about 4 years. I tried it out last month and when I did it would not start. The gas was also old but I have disposed of the old and bought new. I sprayed carb cleaner in it and now it runs for a little bit but then dies out.
I did get it running for a longer period of time by starting it and revving the lever for the throttle. When I did that a lot of smoke came out of the hole in the back which made the water very black. I did buy brand new spark plugs also. As soon as I let off of the throttle the motor dies. I was thinking of taking it out on the lake, taking the cover off and trying to run the "gunk" out.

Also, my model number is 25R76E. Can you tell by that what horsepower this motor is and what year it was made? Is it a 25 hp made in 1976?

Please help.

To me sounds like low speed jet is clogged. This happens when gas varnishes carb and small jet get clogged first

How do I clean it out? Would running it hard blow it out?

you will probably have to rebuild the carb.the "stuff" plugging your jets gets very hard. ive had to poke it out with a piece of wire even after soaking in cleaner for required amount of time.make sure to blow out all small holes with compressed air.and after that, look through the small holes to see if you can see light.

How do I take the carb out to clean it? I am a rookie at this stuff.
