Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a used 19' Swan Point that I purchased from a local dealer. Well I called myself checking the boat over but evidently didn't do a good job. After taking boat out 5 or 6 times and having 6 or 7 people on the boat I thought all was right with the world UNTIL I was showing a co-worker the boat at my house and found a soft spot in the floor.

The soft spot is next to an access hole for one end of the fuel tank towards the front of the boat near the center console. I removed the access cover and if I pressed on the wood from the underside, water would drip almost like condensation. The spot is about 2? square and as far as I can tell is the only spot.

Well, after feeling the soft spot and feeling the color drain from my face, I thought, well this could be an awesome winter project for me and my three sons (yah, my 3 sons). I have been reading about floor replacement on the forums and although it might be a job to do, I am kinda looking forward to trying it.

I will post some pics of the location later.

BN, if that much water is showing up in that small spot, you can be sure that there is a lot more going on than is readily evident. Start by determining where your stringers are and remove a small area, half way over each stringer. That will give you a window. ...and oh, good luck getting your boys to participate.;) btw, how old are they?

Serves them right for putting a floor in a boat in the first place.

If they had put a deck in there it would be okay. Floors belong in buildings and don't get wet.

Put a deck in her, Nub, and she will be seaworthy for a long time. :)

Tons of threads here on floor repair - that's how I learned and did mine last winter. My 3 boys helped too and it made the boat a family treasure knowing WE did all that work. Felt like we had built it from scratch.

Lots of work, I'll likely NEVER do it again, but once you're done you'll love your boat.
