I bought this bike (don't know how you call it there but it is a bike that has a speed limit of 28Mph)

The guy who sold it was planing to throw it away.

It didn't run and was rusty as you can see.

Fixed it and sanded it and repainted, need a new exhaust and some other parts and than it is finished.

Re: My new project

Looks like something made in the Eastern Bloc to me Turin!~!
How many cc's.
Bet it is economical, and in a country like yours, ideal.
Nice job.

I remember having a thing called a Moped about 40yrs back.....similar.....except mine had pedals and the motor was above the front wheel....you lowered in on to the wheel.
Upgraded it to a Honda 50 stepthru.
Excellent on the Military bases to get around.
Knew its own way home from Happy-Hour too.

Cheers
Phillip

Funny you should mention the 28 mph speed limit. I bought a moped in about 1958. It had a max speed of 28 mph, according to the specs. I always thought that was the tested max. I didn't realize that in some places 28 was the max for a "bike". Makes sense now.

Re: My new project

Looks very like a "Mobylette" that used to be available in the U.K.
The moped law in the U.K. in the 70's was that it had to be under 50cc and have pedals by which it may be propelled.
This got the manufacturers busy with very highly tune 49cc motor cycle look alikes that were very highly tuned. You could ride these things at 16 years of age instead of waiting till you were 17 for a bigger motorcycle.
I had one called a Yamaha FS1-E. Capable of 45 to 50 mph. There were many other variants on this theme as well from Honda, Suzuki, Puch, Garelli (60mph) but the motor did not last too long.
My Dad and I pulled mine apart and we did some port tuning and polishing. We then got an extra 5mph out of it. I decarbed it about every other week to keep it running at peak performance. It ran on 20 to 1 mix straight in the tank. The "pedals" were designed so that they both folded forwards and acted just like motorcycle footrests. There was a linkage that enabled you to fold the left pedal back and engage another chain to make it legal. They were capable of being pedalled about 6 feet but it satisfied the law.
I will post some photos if I can find them.

Re: My new project

I had a FS1-E as well, they were affectionaly known as a Fizzy, that bike was forever in bits trying to squeeze that little bit more out of it.
I remember turning the gear leaver around so I could ride it with my feet on the back pegs, you could lay flat on the tank then.
The best performance mod was when my mates and I discovered that the engine from a GP100 would fit the frame with hardly any modifications (70mph)

It indeed is a bike with 49 cc it is a Puch brand it used to have paddles but the previous owner removed them most people did that.
They hit the street when you make a turn and one is in the down position.

It is not legal to tune these things possible it is they sold every thing from 70cc cylinders new carbs exhaust's.

Kids ride these 28Mph bikes when they are 16 (you can get a drivers license at the ages of 18 in Holland)

Turin, tell me the honeymoon isn't over already? Tough to fit a growing family on a moped. Sold my Harley when #2 child arrived. Enjoy the present and keep the future in mind!!!! PS Hope the new Mrs. is doing well!

Yellow was 1977 and up if I remember correctly. It was certainly newer than mine if it was yellow. There is a website for them nowadays and they have regular meetings all over the U.K. Being in Canada for the last 20 years I have not been to any of these meetings. I paid 175 pounds for mine at 11 months old and sold it 1 year later for 165 pounds. I then moved up to a Suzuki GT250, a Kawasaki Z400, a Honda 750 four and finally a Kawasaki Z1B 900cc.
