So i have been going back and forth with a guy on this and finally brought it home yesterday. Going to need a lot of work but I think it is doable. Hull is in great shape with no dents or gouges. It is 14.5 feet long and is very classic looking. Here are some pics.

Nice lines; I like those. My first reaction was, " Wow! what a stripping nightmare" I have no idea what your time frame is on the restore or what value you put on your time, but I would already be into the yellow pages looking for a pro soda blaster. They can do in 2 hours what will take your 5 hours a day for more than a week to accomplish. It's very friendly to soft metal and can get into places that we always miss. From the people i know who've had things done, you'd be ready for ZC in a day and your wallet about $250 lighter. Well worth it in my book. Keep us posted !

If any one has some pictures of the inside of these boats I would appreciate it. I have an idea, but it would be nice to see the actual photos.

Called for a quote on the soda blasting this morning. Any one know a source for aluminum trim? You can see on the transom that it is missing a piece and from other pictures there would be a piece that fits over the wood when mounted. Thanks

You can actually make the aluminum trim or have a metal shop make some for you. Very nice boat.

You can try to scrub it down with a bathroom cleaner and a stiff brush which will remove the "growth" on it.

Soda blasting is a great idea if it is in your budget ;)

Do you have a trailer for it? A motor?

Oh yeah......... Jealousy!!! No snow in the picture!

Working on a trailer, no motor yet. Can decide if i want to go vintage or newer. Not very experienced on working on motors. A 30 or 35 4 stroke would be pretty cool. Plan on polishing the hull with sharkhide. It seems like a pretty good product.

keep us posted on the sharkhide. I saw a vid about it the other day and it looks like great stuff. I recommend a vintage motor if at all possible. A nice Johnson/evinrude big twin would be sweet. They're cheaper, easier to fix, cooler looking, and seems more fitting for the boat itself than a lot of the newer 4-strokes. But as long as she floats and goes where you want, you've made the right choice.

1st step is done. I didn't want to get too far into it if it couldn't be registered. Sent in my bill of sale and paid my fees. DNR came out and did a vessel inspection and affidavit of ownership. THe serial number came back not stolen as well as a state issued HIN# from when it must have been registered in IL back in the 80's. So now I have my hull numbers assigned and registration should be en route to me.
