1976 mirrocraft with original merc 500 50HP outboard and gator trailer. Old, but run's sweeet. ANyone know if these mercs are decent?.. I have only owned J/E before. I paid a grand for it..Maybe too much, but i like it. Thanks..

sounds like a deal to me... engine looks really clean. i had a buddy with an 850 merc in about the same model. only repairs he ever had to do were with the ignition. power pack...etc. good motor though

The mercury 50 hp engine is one of the great classics. Take care of it and it will run a very long time. Do a compression test on the engine, check for spark on all cylinders and change/inspect the lower unit gear lube.

Great find. Looks like a fine deal. Does it have anything in the way of an interior?

The interior is nice as well..The wood on the dash board is clean, steering and all controls work good..upholstered brown leather bench seat facing both front and back (small tear in it), and a small flat wood floor in the back. All the lights work except i side on the trailer. Floating compass and some sort of old speedometer mounted. I think it works by pushing water thru a hose..Never seen anything like it. Really glad to hear those mercs aren't trouble motors.. Thanks!
