So after 3 weeks of troubleshooting my no spark problem and replacing the powerpack only to find the kill wire was shorted i finally got on the water, it started right up (which is not like it) and i went to back up and i relized i installed my steering colum backwards! So after nearly hitting a pontoon, i got myself straightened out and heading towads the other side of the no wake buoy (my favorite spot) i get to the buoy, start opening the throttle and it sputters but gets going.. then it died and would not restart. i cranked it 6x at 10 second intervalls. i smelt something and my battery cable insulation was melting near the battery. so i yank the wire off the battery and burn the sh** out of my hand. so when i am trying to get the paddles out of the ski locker, some ahole in a big ski boat nearly swamped me and i ended up hitting my head on the deck. Finally after 20 minuits of sitting there flipping stations on the radio, someone comes putting along and gave me a tow :]

its a little long and pointless, but i needed to vent.

I strongly belive it is a pinched gas line, it happened before, but i had my toolbox on the boat at the time.

Your steering was installed backwards?

Maybe use a little less barley pop during service work.

Thank you! and long story dont want to get into details, but the boat wasnt taken away, the new powerpack was. after getting the new one in and reliazing the kill wire was shorted out, i used a word i cannot say on here after thinking had i figured that out earlier, i would have been on the water for the past 3 weeks. and the boat is at the dock, and i am heading down at 7am tommorow to fix everything up; its gonna be a very hot day :)

Sounds like you got's your hands full, sputtering, then died...i guess fuel, do you have fuel filter/separator? carb cleaned lately? check your spark first, then look at fuel delivery. good luck.

If the battery cable was hot (which is from a dead short), it could have caused the voltage to drop so low that he lost spark. Just a thought since there is no doubt an electrical problem is going on.

The battery connecction was very hot, but it was from cranking. i traced every single wire on the motor and the powerpack is only getting power from the stator/timer. i remember i replaced the fuel lines, and the line we got from autozone was pretty flat, like it sat under a box. i blew thru it and figured it would let enough gas through. Going down in 15 min to figure it out; my alarm clock wasnt enough to wake up sleeping beauty.
