Cool, but sad, Charlie.

It is good to be reminded where we came from, but sad to know that the past is really past.

Re: My old school

My High school was built in 1929 and still active. Many of the elementary schools in this part of the country have been sold and converted to condos. It the town I live in now.... the oldest school was converted to condos.

When you consider the lead paint, asbestos and old out dated plumbing and electric it is cheaper to build new.

Re: My old school

It looks like a lawsuit or an accident waiting to happen.

The reason I was in there is because a friend of mine put in a bid to remove all the salvage materials. After that it is due to be torn down. The city owns it now and they have a document stating that all the asbestos was removed in the 90's.

I plan to grab a few of the fire whistles , school bells, blackboards, manuals, and an few other useless, but cool, things if my friend gets salvage rights.

I agree that it's sad. I feel kinda melancholy every time I drive by it. She did a good job for her students. There was a story done on it a few years ago. When it was built is was one of the first of this kind in my area and it was the envy of other school districts. It's too bad this has to happen but, my area of the country is dying and there are not enough people to keep schools, and business, open anymore.
