so... i know theres hundreds of threads. ive read pretty much anything is interchangeable with alpha 1 gen outdrives between R/MR/#1 and so on. i am about to buy new upper and lower seal kits, waterpump and bellows. when looking up the seal kits it gives reference that these seal kits fit outdrives with serial number from xxxxxxx - xxxxxx. problem is all my numbers are scratched off and i dont know what i got.

can anyone help me what seal kits will fit this outdrive??

cavitation plate is rounded at the end not squared off

the boat is i think a 1977 or 78 fiberform with 140 mercruiser. the engine serial number is 4652032

Ayuh,... You have an MC-1 drive, probably the original to the boat/ motor...

You should be able to figure out which impeller, 'n pump kit ya need, 'n the bellows...
By the time ya figure out which impeller pump is in the drive, that'll give ya a serial number range for the seal kits...

Btw,.... I truly doubt you have the tools, 'n capability to do a full reseal job anyways...
It's quite involved, 'n the price of the tools required is more money than a new drive....

Ayuh,.... How many of them have the Required Tools for serving a Mercruiser Outdrive,..??

Look over the factory manuals up in the Adults Only section at the top of this forum, then You can decide...

fwiw and don't know if this applies to your year or not. but this is a '72 mc-1 upper.

my s/n was gone too. under the sticker though, my s/n was stamped very lightly into the housing, under the sticker. if ya look close at my pic ya can see the number. w/o the paint removed, ya couldn't tell there was a number stamped into the housing. the bad part is, ya gotta destroy the sticker + the paint to see the number.

working on mercruiser drives does require a lot of special tools. some are mercruiser only type tools.
