I decided some time ago that rather than just slapping down the deck and building whatever storage compartments I wanted it might be wiser to do some real planing. So I are. I hope this will help those who are about to jump into the restoration on the inside of thier boat.

Once I had bought what basic gadgets I wanted to start with I made carboard mockups of each one to near exact dimensions of the original. I especially need this for mounting my electronics at the console which is very small. I want my batteries and gas tank enclosed ( and vented) in compartments so nothing is moving around while underway. The compartments will also provide a place to sit if need be.

The 2nd pic is the gas tank compartment. It'll be raised as high as possible with a lid. I wanted it high so that I can fuel while standing on the ground and not having to hump the tank in and out of the boat. There will be another compartment for the batteries in the starboard aft corner, same size as the gas tank compartment. Visually this should balance everything in the rear of the boat and still leave access to the drain plug.

First pic is the mockups of the VHF and AM/FM radios. Can't do much with these yet as the console is removed for painting, etc. Once the console is back in these will let me figure out placement of each before I start drilling mounting holes and have to go back and redo because they wouldn't fit.
Much rather get it right the first time.

Hope this helps someone else...;););)
