Wow..... standing behind that truck does not give you a chance to show off with your "six pack abs" :D Smart! ;)

Re: My Rides

reminds me of joke I once heard that went something like this:

A husband was admiring boats one day and commented to his wife that they should buy a boat.
His wife wanting no part of it replied "boating is for fat old men"
He then stood up and said to his wife, "Honey, look, I'm already an admiral of the fleet" :)

or, something like that...

That's a nice rig! I didn't know yamaha maid outdrives and such. Yamaha seems to make good stuff......My dad and I have had a yamaha 3-wheeler, streetbike, and outboard. All good stuff. I like those factory wheels on your truck, (there's not a lot of factory wheels that look decent, but gm seems to be doing pretty decent lately).

jbj--Yamaha made I/O drives from 1989 until 1993 and they were installed until 1995 if my memory is correct. They get picked on but are like all setups--maintenance = longer life.

dkorzun--Yes that is a transducer.But I don't have a depth finder.It was there when I bought the boat.

Yes, for a fishfinder. If it is not in the way leave it or if you remove it you will have to plug the holes.

Kill the cap locks - not polite here.

Re: My Rides

There is a persistant rumor (I won't call it more than that) that Yamaha and Ford have been developing an I/O package the last couple of years.

Are any Ford I/O's being used at present?
That Yammie looks an awfull lot like a cobra.
I'll bet that fishfinder didn't read too well other than sitting still.

I have had the boat for 10 years and have never had or used a fish/depth finder.I know the lakes I boat/fish on very well so I don't need one.

Re: My Rides

Hey Bart,

I was wondering if you found out any more info on your boat. I read a previous thread of yours asking for info on your serial number. I just purchased a used 1988 Mirrocraft/Sierra/Northport (Don't know exactly what to call it yet). I just know its 21' with a OMC Cobra outdrive powered by a 305 GM. Were you able to do anything else with your serial number?

Re: My Rides

Br1anhills--If memory serves me correctly I googled Northport and found some info on the manufacturer but I didn't inquire about serial numbers and the like.

I just googled Sierra by Northport and the manufacturer came up on the front page. You might find something there.

That must have been a really old post.:)

Re: My Rides

nice boat. one question as you truck is similar in size to mine (i have a 2.7 v6 awd though). does it struggle pulling the boat out of water at all? does it struggle to pull the boat for any matter really? the only part about buying a boat im worried about is if my suv will be able to get the boat out of the water (with a little bit of a struggle being expected)

just wonderin

thanks!

Re: My Rides

No problems pulling or retrieving even on the one sandy ramp I frequent.

I have been pleasantly surprised by that since the total weight with trailer is about 2300#.
