Well, I knew better but wasnt thinking at the time. Had my friends out with me today 8/2/03. and one of them is a water dog. Its all I can do to keep him in the boat. So, Here we are in a no wake zone and my silly butt me lets him get on the tube. with no life jacket mind you. Just to tug around in the no wake zone. We were traveling no wake speed. Didnt see any harm in that. I would never put anyones safty in jepordy. So here comes coast guard. And right away I relized what I had done. Mr. Coast Guard was nice enough to say have a nice day after a mild A** Chewing. He could have easily nailed me a nice fine for that. And I would have deserved every single bit of it. Sometimes, ya just forget.

So, I bet some of you have storys like that. Little run ins with the law for silly stuff that you knew better but slipped your mind.. I dont want to be the only one.. Please dont make me be the only one.

Nope Chad, you're the only one. No one else makes mistakes, just you. If thats all you've done then you're still above most people.

Re: My Silly Mistake

i recently took a ride in 20' boat owned by a local business to get to a remote camp barge to work on the galley equipment. cg pulled us over for safety inspection. first they asked to see registration card. operator couldn't produce. scribble, scribble. life jackets, the first one out of the locker looked like it was used as a chew toy by a very large dog. the rest were in much better shape. horn. no horn. flares. two years outdated. fire extuingisher. nope. they never looked at bow numbers and registration sticker. expired 3 years ago. i fully expected them to terminate the voyage but all they did was give him a fix-it ticket. too nice?

We can only asume that he was in a good mood, AK. I do know one thing about the coast guard or even ODNR. If your nice. they are nice. I have yet to have a run in that they were mean. They have a job to do and as long as your nice they wont fuss with you. But Lord have I seen some stupid people say some stupid things.
