My smart tab has failed...2 days past the warranty!

I purchased a set of sx9510-60 smart tabs on May 17, 2010. That is the day i placed the order on line anyway. I took my 18 foot Mariah out the last two days and have noticed that the boat was listing to the left and not planing as quickly as it had been last season. Well, after pushing on my smart tabs to see if they were working, it turns out the gas actuator on the left side has failed. They look great and have not been hit or damaged. In checking the warrantee, it is 2 years. Of course i noticed the issue on May 19 th, 2 days after 2 years! I hear great things about John at Nauticus...and have emaied him for a replacement. I will report back when I hear from him. Can't use my boat until the tab is fixed.

the tap guys are really good..

did you check to see if the pump is getting power?

By failed what do you mean? Two of these in one week. Are they sticking up ,down? maybe remove it, clean it, and grease it up. I wouldn't email, I would call, you will get better and quiker service that way. Good luck.

By failed what do you mean? Two of these in one week. Are they sticking up ,down? maybe remove it, clean it, and grease it up. I wouldn't email, I would call, you will get better and quiker service that way. Good luck.

The smart tab no longer has any pressure. When new it had 60 lbs of resistance, now it has almost none. I m guessing the gas actuator has a leak.

did you check to see if the pump is getting power?
These are Smart Tabs, so there is no pump.

Mine both failed on Saturday. First when we reached our destination one, then by the time we got back to the boat ramp, the other one. I had just emailed Nauticus on Friday because I was thinking mine were too tight, and were dragging behind me, blowing spray on my skiiers, but now they are just flopping all around. No tension at all. UGH. Keep us posted on how they treat you.

you may want to ask it cant hurt, i work at a new car dealership i know some cases where a customers warranty just ran out, if its a good customer who has had us do all thier service, the warranty gets honored anyway, just a thought , might be worth a try

Yeah, both of you keep us posted. sounds like they have a actuator issue again. Mine have been on three years and no issues, but I did notice they are starting to rust.

Not if the pistons blowout every 6 months. Could get pretty expensive.

Probably just a freak happening, I did have one failure before the 2 years was up and no problem to get replace, they are now 6 to 7 years old and still work. The boots are getting bad now so will either have to replace them or the actuators. I will order the boots first and then check to see how the actuators look and decide from there what to replace. The actuators will not last forever and they should not fail so quick either, but anything mechanical can and will fail at sometime. To both of you call Nauticus and talk to them, I feel like they will make it right for both of you.

Nauticus gladly replaced my bad actuator at no charge, with no questions asked. Greg, the on-line associate, was fantastic. Great company, great service...as many on here have reported. if you do not have Smart Tabs, might want to consider them. They are an awesome upgrade to all boats under 21 feet!

Pretty amazing to find a company with such great customer service, isn't it? I have yet to hear a single, bad word about these guys. They're the sort of folks to whom I'm happy to give my business!

I just recieved an email from Greg at Nauticus. He said that possibly because the first one failed that the second one had to take up the slack and that is what caused the second one to fail. According to his last email, he is shipping me out 2 new pistons. I am very happy so far with the customer service. Cant wait to get the 60lb units on and see if we can ski behind it now without being sprayed.

Yeah, I never ever buy expensive sunglasses, but I get these reward points from work and they were on the list to buy so I figured what the Hell. I would never pay that much for sunglasses. HOWEVER, you would think a company that is fleecing the customer like that would at least respond to emails and phonecalls.
