My starving Johnson ?

I went out fishing yesterday with my 1974 Johnson 25 HP outboard. I bought it earlier this year and other than a few adjustments it has been working pretty well. I ran up about 15 mins to my fishing spot without issue. When we left to go back I ran about 2 mins upstream and it started to rev down. I pumped the ball on the fuel tank and it reved back up and ran for about 30 secs to a minute and did the same thing over. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the fuel line and no change. My partner squeezed the ball for me while I drove and we were able to stay running for the 10 - 15 mins back to the launch.

What could it be ? I have lots of fuel, it's 50:1 mix. Could it be a fuel pump ? A dirty line ? I am no mechanic and it's Salmon fishing season starting this week up in BC so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pat

If the O rings are good in the connectors I'd bet on the fuel pump.

This is a repair question, Pat. It belongs in Johnson Troubles.

I will move it there.
