Hey guys, I had the boat out for the first time tonight and i noticed that the tilt/trim unit is really slow to move. The electric motor runs fine but it has to run for 10 or 15 seconds before it starts to move the motor. either up or down it seems to take forever to start to move, once it starts it cycles fine.
Could the unit be low on oil? i don't see any signs of a leak. Do these units take a special 100 dollar an ounce marine oil, or can i use regular hydro oil? Thanks.

im dealing with the trim unit on my 1998 evinrude 40 hp it was leaking something fierce... anyway i used transmission fluid in it and it works fine im sure some other people will be on here to chime in though.

A model # would really help ?? Tilt the mtr up and then check the oil level. You can use ATF. Dextron 2or 3. Then cycle the mtr up and down 5 times, recheck and see what happens.
