we're going out of town for the holiday and I decided to change the oil before the trip. Now I've changed oil hundreds of times. It's the same procedure but this time:

Put drain pan under car remove drain plug
Drain oil, remove oil filter
Prime new filter and reinstall.
Fill engine with 4.4 qts 5w30
Done

Notice anything?

I forgot to reinstall the drain plug!!!!!
4.4 qts of NEW Valvoline 5w30 in the drain pan.
That was the last of my oil in that weight so I had to walk a mile to get 4 more quarts. I was lucky and realized what I had done before I started the engine.

Re: My turn

 you are lucky. Just think of the money you just wasted :(, shame on you. Just joking. But obviously the new oil drained straight through the motor into the pan of old oil correct. If not then it just drained into an empty pan then you could of reused it.

Get this one, a local quick oil change shop did a "quick oil change" to a customer's vehicle and forgot to put the new oil in all together. Obviously they were to quick :D:D. Needless to say they had to pay for the damages when the customer's car kicked the bucket.

This reminds me I need to check my oil, I think I am do for an oil change for real, that sucks.

Re: My turn

4+ quarts of oil waisted, mixed with old oil. I'm glad it was the big pan that I use to change my Ford diesel oil. I guess I was concentrating on my trip and not the job at hand.

i used to work for a jiffy lube and ive seen it done before. guys in the lower bay dont put in the plug before the guys up top start pumping oil into it... goes straight through into the pan. what a waste. and we wonder why gas is $3.25 a gal. all thanks to guys like bucky. ;)

Re: My turn

a sort of similar thing, my friend used to have a farm and kept fuel in 44gal drums, had a hand pump on the drum, he put the nozzle/hose in the fuel filler and went into the shed to pump the fuel, but somehow, the hose fell out after he started pumping, I came by after about 30 gallons had been pumped onto the ground!! kind of funny now, but he was pretty peeved then!
