Looking to take a trip down mid-late May for a a week with 18'. What's available for leisure boating fishing, no ocean, maybe ICW, any freshwater lakes, resv, rivers within driving distance? Just looking for unchallenging and relaxing. Thanks.

Lots of water fitting what you describe. The intracoastal is probably what you want. Go south of MB and put in at Wacca Wache marina in Murrells Inlet to avoid the business of MB. It's the Waccamaw river. Sandy Island (in the river) is a popular beaching spot. You can also head south on 17 toward Georgetown -- several rivers on the south side of Georgetown. Santee is beautiful and there is a ramp off of Highway 17. Shoot me a PM if you need more detailed info.

The Waccamaw river is a real gem. The vast majority of it is undeveloped and very picturesque. Go up river away from the ICW if you want to avoid larger boats and their associated wake. And be sure to wave if you see a guy and his family in a Blue and Silver 18' Astro F&S. :D
