Hi, I have an 88 Suzuki DT140 with a very low battery drain when the battery is left connnected. It is originating from the Rectifier Assy and the Rectifier/Regulator Assy that sit above the CDI unit. Each one has a white wire that is fed from battery power (first to the starter solenoid hot side, then to one of the tilt solenoids and then via the fused white wire that goes to each module). Is this normal? The resistance appears very high, maybe around 500K ohms so it's not draining fast but eventually will drain if I forget to disconnect the battery.

I verified the wiring is properly connected via a factory manual.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Biederboat

Well, I do have a battery switch. Problem is, you sometimes forget to turn it off. Also, my bilge pump is wired after the switch so if I leave it moored overnight (it's normally trailered), there is a constant draw on the battery. I'm mainly trying to figure out whether this current draw is normal and/or acceptable or not.

Thanks,
Biederboat

How do you know it stops at the rectifier? it maybe coming from further up, ie. a stereo system, even when its turned off it still drains a small bit of power to power its memory, you can disconnect the memory power wire on the stereo if thats the problem. also, you should install a float which and wire the pump directly to the battery or to the live side of your switch, if you leave your boat on a mooring, and as its easy enough to forget to switch power off after a good day on the water. There is no possible way the engine is drawing any power for anything. as soon as its turned off, it off, theres nothing that needs power. CD/ Radio player sounds like the culprit, sorted the problem out for alot of custumers. A flat battery on the water could turn into a dangerous situation, bring a spare if your using this boat before fixing this problem.
