Take a look at the pic. I have these double holes at either corner of the transom.

What's the purpose of these ? I was thinking they might be the super hydrofoil high speed kick in ventilators. But I ruled that one out.

I imaging that is to let water drain out of that piece of aluminum. I bet that piece is seperate from the rest in construction.

You both are right. I forget who the boat manufacturer was that patterned that idea. My wife probably remembers but she is sleeping . When the boat stops you can hear it gurgle as it takes on water for stability. they were manufactured in St Charles, Michigan. Uh trying to remember but just draw a blank. I've been to the factory years ago but it's disappeared now. Hard times.

So, if you stick a wire or something into those holes it goes the whole length of that chine? and that chine fills with water for ballast stabilty on each side? what a concept. By the way looks like a nice clean piece you have there.

yes the water fills the chines. They also made another model with a double hull the bottom hull came up about 3/4 way from the back to front and that filled with water. It was a more expensive boat. It was really stable but terrible on hole shot. If you were trying to power up in a hurry. The front and back were open so water would enter and vacate. It had ribs, probably for reinforcement. My father-in- Law had this model. It was stable as a rock in rough or choppy water. Wife's still sleeping.
