mystery hose barb...what is it? AQ125

Volvo AQ125 in a bayliner....There is a hose barb, about 3/8 inch size coming out of what I would call the bell housing on the oil filter side of the motor...towards the back down low. Theres nothing hooked to this.

Ive been looking at the manuals and diagrams but cant seem to locate this.

Anyone know what it is?

Post a picture. If it's something from a previous owner (which it sounds like) it's hard to guess what it would be for.

It looks OEM all right, I can't tell from your pictuer if that is just a hose barb or a 2 piece drain. Volvo used a lot of drains that had hose barbs on the ends. It looks like one piece, and may go into the cooling system. Do you have an A or B model 125?

Its an "AQ125 A".

Looking at it closely, the barb threads into a reducer type adaptor which threads into the block, so it is 2 pieces.
I guess its a drain as you describe.

Ayuh,... It looks like a Beat-up old radiator petcock...

Ditch it,+ put in a brass pipe plug...

Those things are actually very solid and work very well Bondo. The one thing that is nice, is you can stick a hose on it to drain the antifreeze into a container instead of into the bilge. Those engines are all closed cooling system, and that drain is for the block.

Don S is right on the mark. Its the drain for the block antifreeze on mine.
