I'm looking to sell my little 6hp Yamaha 2-stroke kicker 1990 and wanted to ck. with this NADA.com web-site for a price.
They have a low-retail at $180 and a high retail at $210. Now this seems rather low to me and i was wondering how does this web-site come up with their prices? I know its a older mdl but its in excellent shape, not alot of salt-water use and pisses water like a mule.

Re: NADA Prices?

to answer your question directly, for boats, NADA uses a dartboard. It has no credibility for anything more than 8 years old.

I'd say 300-500 b/c it's a desirable size and brand.

NADA prices don't mean anything if someone won't pay the price you are asking. Check your local area for like motors, and don't expect high dollars for motors that look old and don't start and run well under load. Running condition is the big deal, even an old faded scratched up motor will sell for a higher price if it starts easy, and runs when you open the throttle.

Re: NADA Prices?

FWIW - NADA uses formulas, depreciation schedules, etc. to estimate fair market values. Sometimes that does not always hold true when the free market has other influences on prices for a particular type of item or brand.

Your challenge is in not asking too low . . or too high. Kind of the 'give it away' versus 'scare 'em away' thing.
