Name of transom tie down strap.

I want to buy some short transom tie down straps. Never having owned any it is hard to tell how they work looking at just pictures.

I would prefer something that works with the ease of an old style seat belt. I do not want a ratchet type strap; I have plenty of those.

Old style seat belts had fixed ends. Are you willing to drag the buckle ends while underway. Two hooks with the ratchet in the middle is the way to go. Easily stored.

You can get retractable tie down straps where the ratchet mounts to the trailer and the free end is attached then it retracts and you snug it up.

It does require find a suitable mounting location, possibly drilling into the trailer and then protecting from rust.

I added them to our trailer and am glad I did.

When I said "with the ease of an old style seat belt", I meant pull the strap to tighten and left to release. I envision hooks on each end for easy storing while on the water and no dragging while ramping.
