Stopped by the Nashville Boat Show yesterday and was incredibly disappointed. I suppose that I expected "accessory" vendors as well as new boat vendors, but I was mistaken. Most of the other booths were items that were not boating related. It was: Would you like to sign up for..., how about a pair of cheap pair of sunglasses, a wooden swing chair on my boat?, beef jerky, rain gutters, window replacement and a partridge in a pair tree. If it had nothing to do with boating, sold.

I will say, if you are in the market for a new boat, they had lots.

Just thought I would post a review for those that wonder.

Re: Nashville Boat Show

Thats why I stopped going about 3 years ago. They have a good number of boats, but they seem to be transforming it into a camping/outdoor products show(beef jerky, those swinging tree chairs, lake resorts, hot tub manufacturers, camping flint that ignites underwater, state park advertisements, gutters, and some fishing camp up in Ontario, Canada).

Its overall a great show, but it just always seems like there are more and more unrelated or random vendors at a BOAT & SPORTS show.

It's too bad, I was really looking for accessories and the like. I would think that would be worth while for vendors, but it must not be.

My family enjoyed it. I got to talk with a Stingray factor rep. Sit in some potential next boats -- once they are used. Got to see what I think are some trends in the ski/wake board boats. And, had one heck of a good bloody mary!

I also saw several sold signs, including the new Stingray 235 deck boat. Yeah, hopefully a good sign for boating and the economy.

I will say, none of the competition ski boat manufactures had a direct drive, or 3 event boat in the house. All had big v-drive wakeboard boats, many with new even uglier color schemes.

Re: Nashville Boat Show

I went to the Houston boat show yesterday and I thought it was an improvement over previous years. Yeah, there's the Ginzu knives, sunglasses, and some of that other stuff, but there was a little bit less of it this year. Also, there were a few more quality boats exhibited this year and a few less of the crummy ones. Some of the prices also looked a bit better. A little less foolishness and a little more business (and better products) this year. All in all, I thought it was an improvement. I hope it's an indicator of better things to come (for all of us).
