Went to a new lake for some fishing today. Got to the launch with no problems. Loaded all gear, and put the plug in, in the parking lot. Boat was tested, all ready to go. So get lined up on the ramp, remove transom straps start backing down approach whole rig starts to slide rapidly toward the water. Scared beyond words brakes don't work, rig still sliding, try emergency brake nothing. Put Jeep in drive, still slides only thing left 4x4, try that and still nothing. Then all of the sudden the rig just stops. Water to the bottom of rear bumper, my body convulsing relentlessly. Needless to say I did not fish this lake. Left lake and needed a drink. Only good thing to come out of this, I learned to avoid the steeper launches. As the saying says "alls well that ends well."

May we ask what size boat you were pulling with your jeep?

Watched a guy back his 68' Camaro SS down a boat ramp one evening cause he wanted to see what it would sound like if it was a boat. For what ever reason the brakes didn't hold and he really made a boat out of it. I had to hook to him and pull him out with my truck. I still laugh about it when I think about it.

I remember being at a ramp waiting for my turn to launch, I was watching these tow men putting in their fishing boat. One in the truck and the other holding the line to the boat, after the boat was in the water the man holding the boat line yell "Hit it" the man in the truck took of as if he was on fire, what the man holding the line didn't see was the line he was holding was also wrapped around the trailer, in the next moment the man was on his back being pulled up the ramp with their boat close on his heels. The good thing was the man was unhurt when the driver stopped at the top of the ramp. It took eight of us to drag the boat back into the water. But their day fishing was shot to hell.

It is a 16ft sea nymph. I can't recall off hand what the Jeep os reated for but I know I was under it. I figure it didn't help much that the concrete pad was covered in gravel and dirt.

early 80's point breeze NY or olcott maybe ...a guy backed his jeep and trailer down the ramp into the river, at a place called harry's bait shop....lost it all, had to call a diver to swim down and hook a cable to rig and pull it out, took hours

Over hear on the coast I was waiting to launch my boat one day, but the sheriff had to pull there jet boat out first. We were watching, they got the boat on the trailer just fine. and strapped it down.... Then the guy driving put it in gear and gunned it.. Gunned it right into the river.. past the front bumper... Next time I bet they will check to make sure the little line is behind the D, instead of the R.....
