i need to hook my Hummingbird matrix 25 w/ The Hummingbird GR4 GPS Receiver Accessory to my Standard Horizon Quest GX1255S VHF/FM Transceiver

Now with the GPS receiver i've got a NMEA signal through the "pigtail" cable attached to the end of the GR4 GPS Receiver cable to connect to devises such as autopilots (and FM transceiver?) it says to connect the NMEA (white wire) of the cable to the NMEA in of the devise you are connecting to your FF the pinouts of this cable are as follows

red wire +12v (output voltage only)

black wire, ground

white wire NMEA out

are these 3 wires above in said pigtail?

now on to the radio,
standard horizon quest gx1255s

on the back there's an accessory connection cable with 3 wires

green NMEA ground -

blue NMEA input +

purple NMEA technician test wire???????? yes no?

now in order to connect these 2 units heres what i propose tell me if it's wrong and why you think it's wrong and then the right way to do it

on the radio i took 2, 22 gauge butt connectors and put one on the green/ground-
and one on the blue/input +
the purple/tech wire i liquid taped
then i connected a 2 pole connector(red & white wires) to the butt connectors
connecting the red to the blue and the white to the green.
now i need to do the same thing to the pigtail of the NMEA wire going from the GPS to the asseccory connection of the fishfinder back down to the pigtail were theres 3 wire in the tail

red= +12v

black= ground

white= NMEA out

so i think it goes like this the white NMEA out wire on the pigtail goes to the blue NMEA input
and the black ground from the pigtail goes to the green thers a home made drawing of what i think it looks like on my home page listed in my profile just go to home page and the link says GPS
