I have looked everywhere and I can't find one. I was tracing my wires and the whole harness is shot. I'd like to get this thing on the water before white death happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Need a 62 RKL-24 Motor Harness, Please

I myself looked high and low for one for my 1983 since the wires on my harness have become brittle to a point.....I ended up finding a junk harness with a good red plug on it and I am in the process of making a harness following my old one....and the wiring diagram in the shop manual....will fit new harness in the winter....fishing time now

Re: Need a 62 RKL-24 Motor Harness, Please

I wire my old ones direct with no plugs or harnesses, but do use M-F spade connectors where appropriate so I can disconnect.

Ignition Wiring:
B - Battery------- To Battery + (Fused)
A - Accessory----- To Accessories
S - Start----------To Engine starter solenoid
C - Choke---------To electric choke solenoid (if equipped)
M - Magneto-------To one of the black magneto kill wires
M - Magneto-------To the other of the black magneto kill wires

I'll use a 18 ga, 4 conductor cable for the Magneto (Kill wires), Start and Choke, then I usually bring up the fused power and ground from the motor on a separate 16 gauge cable. I run both cables up through a big heat shrink tube, do some crimping and soldering and more heat shrink on the ends, and I'm done. Just leave about a foot and a half of separated (from the outer covering) conductors from the 4 conductor so everything can be cut to length to fit on the motor. The magneto wires need to be the longest, since they go to the top and have to move around with the armature plate.
