I have a 1965 Merc 650 that needs some controls...i have the cables already and they are attached to the motor but am missing the control box. Could someone tell me what style of box i need for these types of cable ends? Pictures would be most appreciated! I know theres a few boxes on ebay but i have no clue as to which ones would fit these control ends...

I recognize it. What you have are the cables, plus part of the internals of a Mercontrol box. (Search on Ebay for MerControl, there are usually a few for sale.) Opening them up to install the cables it quite easy, as long as you can handle a screwdriver and needle nose pliers well :)

I had one that was getting stuck....took it apart, and you'll find there are 2 plastic bushings that support the shaft. They were 90% gone. I went overkill and machined some bronze bushings to fit by enlarging the bore in the case halves...but I suspect you can find the new plastic ones easily enough. If you buy a used one off Ebay, before you separate the halves to install your cables check how free it moves. Any binding, it'll probably be those bushings.
