Need a longer choke cable or an alternative

I'm converting my automatic choke to a manual choke, but the conversion kit came with a cable that is only 5' long. I want a longer cable, so I can operate the choke from the helm. Does anybody know where to get a choke cable long enough, or how to convert some other kind of cable?
I have a 19ft '69 Glasply with a buick 225 engine. I have been having carburetor problems, and found out the stove tube for the automatic carb wasn't routed properly. My engine was running rich, as soon it heated up it would die at idle and wouldn't start until it cooled off. I searched everywhere for the proper location of the stove pipe, and I think the previous owner bought the wrong version of the Rochester 2GC. I know it was a replacement because it has a Sierra parts tag screwed to the top. Instead of racking my brain, I decided to convert to a manual choke.

Any support is greatly appreciated.

Does the carb happen to have an electric choke? If it does, wiring it in isn't hard.

On the manual choke cable. the choke isn't used except on a cold start, so you could use the shorter cable and mount the knob anywhere. Pull it out for cold starts and after the motor is warm and in warmer weather, the choke probably isn't needed.

Google "spiral wound choke cable" for some hits on longer cables.

Thanks GA for taking the time to answer my question. That's exactly what I was looking for. I haven't had a chance to go through all the electrical on this boat, and I don't want to add any more.

The choke wiring is all done right at the motor. It's only one wire, I think to the coil. Really simple, Ski.

Can't be driven off the wire going to the coil since that wire is either a resistor wire or comes from the ballast resistor.

Then the feed to the ballast resistor or resistor wire. I knew it's one of the two, just said coil for starters.

After posting, I thought I should have mentioned the ballast resistor.

Bruce - I edited your post when I meant to edit this one. That's why it says I edited your post.
