Looking for the tilt/trim assembly model # on a 74 evinrude 115. Engine model 115493b. I've looked at marineengine.com but they only list the exploded parts diagram - not the model # for the assembly itself.

Any help greatly appreciated.

the answer (via a dealer) is yes - 76 from a 135hp will fit a 74 115hp.

Just be aware that there was Tilt System, as well as Trim-Tilt system. Either system will fit. Tilt System used on Hydraulic Cylinder between Transom Brackets, while the Trim-Tilt system had two Rams that were located outside of the Transom Brakets and was bolted to the back of the Swivel Bracket

Yes, 1973-1976 V4's, 73-77 70 Hp models use the same pt&t. Good ones are hard to find and pricey.
fwiw- the port cylinder is the trim cylinder only and has a very limited stroke. the balance of the range it merely slides. It also houses the trim indicator potentiometer.
The stbd cylinder is the tilt cylinder which also allows for low speed higher trim levels for easing over the shallows. It also acts to pull the trim down to the lowest position when not under power.
fyi- should the trim cylinder fail, the line to it can be plugged and you'll still have power tilt and slow speed running in gear.
Good luck!

Trim-Tilt

Question - if it is tilt only, can that be used to trim the motor under power?

The " tilt only " unit will not trim the motor at full power.-------Will only work at idle for say approaching a beach.---Or moving through a shallow water area.

related question - saw a post on a thread from another board talking about tilt/trim for a 73 evinrude 135hp. the person responding said units to fit that motor (and my motor, a 74 115hp evinrude) are hard to find, leaky and (in his opinion) not worth it. instead, he said: best to buy a swivel/stern bracket assembly with integral trim from a 1977 & later 140 (or 1978 & later 85/90/115/140) and (yes it can be made to) fit it up. That might set you back a couple-three hunge but will be the best money you can spend, besides what's next...

i'm looking for power tilt/trim for my motor and may have found it. but i've seen a ton of good deals on the years he suggests as a replacement - i'm just a little concerned about "yes it can be made to fit" and what that involves.

anyone want to chime in? would i be better of with a "can be made to fit" alternative or with the unit off a 73 135hp i've found for $75 (needs a new pump).

THanks for the help.

While fitting the later Transom and Swivel Brackets to the earlier motors has been done. As to what Modifications needed, I can't recall the thread, A Quicker and less Stressful solution would be to get a CMC Tilt-trim system, no modes to the engine
