I have AN 84 marktwain with an 898 mercruiser motor runs fine put it in gear and it dies like someone pulled the plug need help quick thanks

Quick as I can make it, replace the lower shift cable.

Yeah, that's about the only way. I tried using a shotgun, but it didn't work.:rolleyes:

Now, would you like to stop with the search for a quick answers and find out what really needs to be done and how to find out what the problem is?

First thing I would suggest is you slow down and find out what's wrong. Then fix it.
First, go up to the adults only sticky at the top of the forum and download service manual #6, you're gonna need it.

To test the system, disconnect one of the wires going to the shift interrupt switch, then, while running on muffs (NOT in the water) shift the engine to forward and back to neutral and see if it stalls.
