Thats pretty much exactly what I bought 3 yrs ago from Jasper. Got a good price and the motor is great. i dont know what their warranty is now, but it was 18 months when I got mine. There are probably lots of good choices out there. Jasper has been around the longest and is the biggest (other than OE) I know they also do remans for a couple of OE companies.

I vote for Rapido too. Been happy with my 350 long block since I got it from them.

You'll only lose 40-50 HP if you do, but it will work.

You can look all over but,,, you won't find a better outfit to work with than Rapido or a better price and warranty. When you are shopping around remember shipping and core charges. If you have to spend $500 sending your old block back, its not a good deal.

Im thinking of running the 2 bbl setup for now and then upgrading to the 4 as funds allow. I am aware of the core charges and shipping everywhere else. Rapido seems to have great pricing I agree. just want some feedback before I decide what to do.

Anything else I should be replacing while the engine is out other than the usual tune up stuff?

I would think hard about your manifolds, risers, coupler and motor mounts.

You'll have to open them up and look at them - if this is a salt water boat, no need to look, you need them.

I'd strongly consider putting in a new coupler. It's a couple hundred bucks, but if the old one is worn at all the new engine has a good chance of spinning it, and if it goes you get to pull the whole engine out again.

When I did my engine I decided to spend the cash to replace a lot of things... new 100 amp alternator, new water pump. I should also have replaced the coil, plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor, points, and condenser. I'm still using the old fuel pump.

If you get a 350 I'd strongly suggest skipping the old intake and carb and picking up a 4 barrel edelbrock set... tons o' power.

If you're close to the edge on budget, just get the stuff that'll make you pull the engine out if it breaks... coupler, engine mounts (check the ones in the transom plate too) and while you have the engine out check the hydraulic hoses and shift cables for the stern drive.

Re: need a replacement long block. where to buy?

Just ordered my long block from Rapido!! hope you guys are right! went ahead and got the cam upgrade while I was at it. I guess its time to start tearing things apart. I just bought this boat, my first one, and cant wait to get it in the water. been around boats all my life but never had one of my own. I know there will be a lot of good times ahead for me and my family. Thanks to all for your help so far.
