Need a video compression tool for W7

I have a video that I want to make smaller and Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't have that function.

Can somebody recommend some software to do that?

I have used DVD Shrink for years and it works quite well once you learn how to use it. Here is the site....http://www.dvdshrink-2010.org/

Thanks, but that doesn't appear to be what I need.

It says that DVD Shrink 2010 is a tool for fitting a dual layer DVD in a single layer DVD disc.

I need some freeware that will allow me to compress a home made 95MB .avi file down to something more manageable in size.

Convert it to DVD format. Try ConvertXtoDVD4.

Try VLC. Find it at www.videolan.org.

Open source code, used for a lot of stuff.

VLC does a lot of neat stuff. You can even set it to capture your screen and output it to a movie file. Great if you are trying to make an instructional video.

I have used it to stream a video (camera) from one computer to another.
