I'm looking to buy a 2003 Yamaha 115 F115TLRB. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and would like some advice. He says the compression is 150 but I'll be doing a compression test when I get there. if the cylinders are within 10% of each other, is 150 a good number for this motor and year?

I'll also check the oil, LU and hopefully I'll be able to do a sea test as well. He says it has 600 hours on it. I know there's not much I can do to see how well he actually took care of it and I know this is a loaded question but how many hours could I reasonably expect if he took reasonable care of the motor?

He says he hasn't had any problems with it.

We'll see. Thanks for your input!

So I went for a look. The compression was 155, 162, 160 and 170. He also didn't think the valves have ever been adjusted and the 600 hours was the last thing he saw on the guage before the guage broke.

What do you think?

I would have a very good Yamaha tech do a look and see what he thought even if it will cost you
Leak down tests are more informative of the condition of a motor than a compression test and they will look at a lot more than you would be able to
