I just purchased the new Intex Mariner 4 for a float fishing trip down the Greenbrier river in West Virginia for me and a friend and I have a couple of questions ???? The water this time of year gets pretty shallow and I was wondering if I should keep the Keel inflated or not ??? I was thinking that it may snag on the rocks in some of the shallow areas. Another question is what type of anchor should I purchase ?? We plan on fishing in some of the deeper slow moving areas and I want to be able to sit for a while. This is my first float trip so any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Inflate the keel. I'd go with a mushroom anchor with about 120' of line.

I use a 15 pounder, but I sometimes anchor in fairly swift current. It usually holds, but not always. I sometimes have to reposition. But, it always comes off the bottom easy when I'm ready to go. Fluke style anchors can get hooked in the rocks and you'll never get them out.
