need advice on get flake off gelcoat

i just picked up a 1976 19'taylor jet boat it has a blue metal flake gelcoat but some of the flake is at the surface dose any body have a recomendation on how to get that top coat of flake off and if it dose come off what would it shine again or am i at lost couse on the paint i would like any advise anybody has or experince of the same kind thanks

your only real option to keep the original look is to do a really good prep job and shoot it (ot have it done) with high quality automotive clearcoat....

thanks man i was thinking the same thing.now whats the steps i should take to get the done (prepwork) what kind of sand paper should i use to get a good prep done.
