I'm gonna put a bimini on my boat and would appreciate some advice on how high it should be.
Boat type - 1980 Enterprise Corwin 16 1/2' tri hull I/O 'runabout'. Should the new bimini be tall enough to stand under? I'm 6' tall. If so, the bimini will have to be one of those 48" high ones. I'm considering a 48" high X 6' long Bimini. How's that sound? Any advice to this newbie boater would be greatly appreciated.

I added a soft top that attaches to the windshield(look for snaps on the windshield). Do you have that option? You cant stand up with that arrangement, but it s more efficient protection, aerodynamic, look good. If you go bimini, you are supposed to be able to stand up, a nice convenience. I think they look a bit goofy on walk through windshield boats, but I've seen them used on those boats and who cares so long as you can get away from the sun at noon.
For bimini, figure where on the rail you would mount it, check that distance verticaly to floor and add to height of bimini. If 48 inches you should fit about right.

Hey Barnacle........I would go with the 48" high one and 6' long. I installed that one on my 18' Campion, (not Champion) cutty cabin and it has worked out perfectly. With the adjustable straps that come with it, I was able to "tip" the front of the Bimini downword, such as a sprint car airfoil, and I didn't loose one mile an hour in speed and there is no billowing or flutter either. It is easily removed for storage, etc., plus it keeps the sun off your beer, as well as your head!!!
...Bob in Calif...(25 miles north of you)
