I'm looking at buying a 1994 chris craft concept 217 with the omc 5.0l. they say the Problem is : The fuel injection system doesn't allow the engine to accelerate. After searching for the past year, we have determined that the module for the FIS is not available. The engine runs fine when idling and at a low speed. Is this a major problem or is it something a mechanically inclined person can figure out and fix... I sent them this video I found on here about a problem that sound like what this boat is having.... They replied back that they believe so.

Link does not work but RUN AWAY. That 5.0L is a Ford with a Ford based EFI setup for marine engines, only used a handful of years IIRC. Now with Ford pulled out of marine markets and OMC gone, the parts to that old system are mostly NLA except what few parts can be substituted with auto variants.. Buying a running one is risky, buying a broken one is stupid

sounds like a rev limiter. perhaps there is a switch in the control box that does not allow it to get revved up when out of gear, and the switch is closed all the time now so it will never go faster than that.. It's still risky enough, I wouldn't recommend buying it

Ditto! If i am reading your post correctly, it says someone has been trying to locate the part for a year. Run away! Thank you for fixing the link; viewable now. :)

$4g for yard art is a lot unless your wife is going to plant flowers around it.
