I have a 50hp force...added a duel tell to it, and have had her many times like she sits now. Well, today I took her out to test a homemade exhaust snout..I broke the one I just bought...anyway she started right up like always and seemed fine.
I took her out for like maybe two runs around in a cirlcle and started back to the dock to pick up my friend so we could go fishing. Only thing is as I slowed down I look back and theres no water coming out at all!!!!! Damn thing was pumping like a niagrag falls and now she is blowing steam out the back! I turned it off asap and waited almost thirty mins, before trying to restart. Couldnt get her to start for nothing!
So I pulled her out and in the shade removed the lower end, and to my surprise, the damn brand new impeller I put in when I bought the engine, still looks and feels new! So I figure maybe a dirt dobber got in and built a nest or something, but all the passages are clear! Hell i even tried to blow air by mouth through all the holes and had not a single issue! Even checked the lower end..Nothing!
So, now I decide to put her back together and try it out again. Got her running barely at high idle out of water, but when I put her back in water she stalls and will not run at all. So I pulled her out again and went home.
Now, its 1am and I am in a wal mart parking lot and after taking the whole damn head off I have now realized water was getting into the lower cylinder! thats a issue of the heat I guess...And more than likely why I could not get her to run when in water. So after cleaning all the old gasket off and installing new, she will purr...just like old times!
My question here is, what the hell could have caused her to do this? The screen over the intake is new, and does not look bad, no evidence at all of debri in the engine, and the impeller was like new. Oh yeah, and it has no temp alarm, or even thermostat at all, never has and always pumped great. Please...I am going out in the morning and would kinda need to make sure she isnt going to do this again. thanks and sorry this is so long, hope it isnt that hard to read.
